Road closures will result in limited parking in and around the James St precinct. Off-site parking is available in the surrounding streets with secure, paid parking also available at: Secure Parking at McLachlan + Ann Car Park on Connor St from 6:30AM–1AM or Wilson Parking at 949 Ann St, 24hrs.

Train and bus services operate frequently in and around Fortitude Valley and New Farm. Some services will be affected by street closures. For further information, timetables, services and fares, please contact Translink at translink.com.au or 13 13 30.

Rideshare scooters and bikes are not permitted within the event space. Rideshare drop-off points will be allocated outside of the event. We kindly ask for your consideration when parking ride-share vehicles as footpaths must be maintained for disability and mobility access. Riders are requested to please considerately park scooters well away from entrances to avoid blocking footpaths or creating trip hazards.

We aim to make James St Food + Wine Trail as welcoming as possible. The event includes pathways for wheelchairs, mobility aids, and strollers. Accessible toilets will be available within the event, and a range of seating options are provided throughout the event for comfort and rest. JSFWT is the James St Food + Wine Trail – an annual event dedicated to showcasing the restaurants, bars, cafes and providores that form James St’s beloved culinary community. The event was initially launched in 2011 and is held each year on the last weekend of July. This year’s JSFWT will take place on Sunday 27 July.

James St Food + Wine Trail (JSFWT) on Sunday 27 July, is a free to attend culinary market that sees James Street closed to traffic and transformed into an open-air celebration of food and drink by the street’s leading venues.

JSFWT will take place from 10AM to 5PM with the entrances positioned at all the key entry points and streets around the James St precinct. With live bands, DJs and kid’s activities running from McLachlan to Arthur St, pop in and out as you please or set up camp and watch the day’s festivities transpire from one of the many seating locations that pop up.

Simply put: dine, drink and dance!

In an effort to minimise the environmental impact of James St Food + Wine Trail, all waste from the event is either composted or recycled. To achieve this, there are two different types of bins provided within the event footprint; one for compostable materials and the other for recyclable bottles and cans.

All takeaway cutlery and crockery from coffee cups and lids to the forks, plates and even cocktail cups are made from natural plant starches and will be turned into compost to increase soil and plant health, while any bottles or cans will be recycled through Containers for Change.

And remember, if you bring waste in that was not purchased from the event vendors (external takeaway coffee cups etc), please don't contaminate the compost and recycling bins. Ask our frinedly event staff for help – this guarantees that the compost won't end up in landfill.

All funds raised through Containers for Change will be donated to local charity. Please assist us in raising as much money for charity as possible by placing all bottles and cans in the recycling bins.

James St acknowledges the Jagera and Turrbal peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Country on which we live, work and play. We pay respect all First Peoples and their Elders, past and present and recognise their continuing connection to land, skies, waterways and culture.

This year’s James St Food + Wine Trail campaign artworks were created in collaboration with Liverpool-based illustrator PIG MEAT aka Beth Land. PIG MEAT works with digital collage and traditional illustration techniques to create surreal, satirical and often tongue in cheek depictions of society with her practice being best described as exploring the intersection between illustration and social commentary. Amongst others, PIG MEAT’s recent accomplishments include being commissioned by and published in The Guardian, earning a spot on the long-list forthe Boom 2024 Illustration Awards, and receiving a nomination for the 2024 Liverpool Art and Design Masters Award.

Fun fact: Beth was bitten by a pig as a child and hence was nicknamed PIG MEAT.

Entry to James St Food + Wine Trail Market Day is subject to the following conditions:

The term “Festival” within these conditions includes reference to the area bounded by the perimeter fencing at James St, and surrounding laneways within James Street Precinct. James Street Initiative Pty Ltd (Festival Owner) – reserves the right to refuse entry to or eject from the Festival, any person who does not comply with any of these conditions. James Street Initiative Pty Ltd has agreement with participating licensees who hold a joint Commercial Public Event Permit.

1. Acceptance of Risk and Limitation of Liability
   1. Patrons entering the Festival do so at their own risk. Patrons assume all risks associated with and incidental to the Festival, whether before, during or after the Festival (including property damage or loss and personal injury). The risks assumed by Patrons include any risks caused by the Festival Owner in ensuring compliance with the Conditions of Entry.
   2. Patrons waive any claims for personal injury or death against the Festival Owner on behalf of Patrons and any accompanying minor.
2. Admission
   • Festival Owner reserves the right to refuse admission to, or remove any person for reasonable cause, without notice. Persons under the age of 18 must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times.
3. Alcohol and Drugs
   1. Patrons must not bring alcohol into the Festival.
   2. Alcohol purchased at the Festival must be consumed within the area of the Festival (“the permitted area”). No alcohol is permitted to be taken off the Festival site.
   3. Any person wishing to drink alcohol at the Festival may be required to provide a driver’s licence, current passport or proof of age card.
   4. Any minor found drinking alcohol will, in the Festival Owner or Licensee’s discretion, be refused entry to orejected from the Festival, subject to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
   5. Any person supplying alcohol to a minor or any person deemed to be assisting or contributing to the supply of alcohol to a minor may, in the Festival Owner or Licensee’s discretion, be refused entry to or ejected from the Festival.
   6. Any person who is deemed to be adversely affected by the consumption of alcohol may, in the Festival Owneror Licensee’s discretion, be refused entry to or ejected from the Festival.
   7. Any person who is deemed to be adversely affected by the consumption of drugs may, in the Festival Owners sole discretion, be refused entry to or ejected from the Festival
4. Animals
   • Patrons may bring small animals to the Festival weighing less than 15kg. Guide dogs are also permitted. Thesemust be on a lead at all times, where applicable. Animals must be well behaved and kept under control at all times. Animals are not allowed to sit on furniture or jump onto tables. Animals must not be fed whilst on the property. All owners must have the ability to be able to carry their animal, especially during congested periods. No animals are permitted in any food preparation areas. Any animals showing signs of aggression will be removed from the Festival immediately. The Patron accompanying the animal will be liable for any injury, loss, or damage caused by the animal at the Festival. One animal per Patron.
5. Change of Activities
   • Festival Owner reserves the right to add, withdraw or substitute Stallholders, performing artists and amenities.
6. Footwear
   1. Patrons must wear footwear while at the Festival.
7. Hours of Operation
   • The hours of operation are 10am to 5pm. All Patrons must have departed the venue by 5:30pm.
8. Items Not Permitted
   • Patrons to the Festival may not bring in food, alcohol, illegal drugs and controlled substances, weapons, bikes,scooters or other items deemed dangerous by Festival Owner.
9. Offensive Behaviour
   • Patrons will not act in a manner that is inappropriate, offensive to others, or illegal. Festival Owner reserves the right to refuse entry to or eject a person who conducts themselves in such a manner.
10. Recording, Transmission and Exhibition
    1. Patrons agree not to record or transmit, or aid in recording or transmitting, any description, account, picture, or reproduction of the Festival other than for private non-commercial purposes, without the permission of the Festival Owner.
    2. Patrons grant permission to Festival Owner to use their name, image, likeness, or statements in any live or recorded audio, video, or photographic display or other transmission, exhibition, publication or reproduction made of, or at the Festival without further authorisation from, or compensation to the Patron.
11. Searches
    1. Patron’s belongings may be searched on entry to the Festival, or during the Festival. Patrons must consent to such searches. Patrons may be required to leave the Festival if they refuse a request to have their belongings searched and will not be refunded or otherwise compensated.
12. Smoking
    • No smoking or vaping is not permitted inside the Festival unless in the dedicated smoking area.
